Required Reading: Discontinued by Julian F. Thompson

This book is not about basketball. It is, for example, a great deal less about basketball than Moby Dick is about fishing.

As a matter of fact, this book is quite a bit less about a lot of things than Moby Dick is/ It's about some other stuff.

This is a book about love, and looking for answers, and fishing a new pet. It's about a wild chase and an illegal scam, and some very weird people who live in Vermont.

It all happens to Duncan Banigan. And it all goes to show that you may know the people who want to kill you, but you never really know the people who love you.

"In DISCONTINUED, Julian Thompson once again thumbs his nose at the few remaining taboos of YA literature and gets away with it. The novel -- irreverent and erotic and just plain fun -- is his fourth and possibly his best." ---- THE ALAN REVIEW
