Required Reading: Sophie & Carter by Chelsea Fine

While other high school seniors are dreaming about their futures, Sophie and Carter are just trying to make it through each day. Carter is overwhelmed by issues at home as he struggles to support his mother. Meanwhile, next door neighbor Sophie is left to care for her three younger siblings in place of their absent and troubled mother. All that holds these two best friends together is each other, and knowing that each night they'll sit together on Sophie's front porch swing and escape from reality, if just for awhile. But as their relationship reaches a turning point and high school graduation nears, will their friendship become something more?

My Favorite Verse in The Bible

Our ICT teacher told us to recite our favorite verse in The Bible and tell what it means. I chose the verse Philippian 4:6, "Don't worry about anything, instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need & thanks Him for all He has done." It means that as we take a closer look at this passage today we’ll see how we can stand fast in the Lord by resisting the temptation to worry and we can do that by being prayerful, by being thankful and by experiencing the peace of God. That's why this is my favorite verse in the Bible.

Just got a Diary ng Panget book 2! \(^O^)/

To become a...

As you can see in the picture at the top is a Doctor. Our ICT teacher told us to draw of what we want to be after 15 years. I started off thinking I wanted to go into Medicine because of my interest in Science and my fascination with the way in which the human body functions. Now I think it runs deeper than that, when I was younger my Grandfather suffered from a liver cancer, sadly he didn't survive. I think that this is ingrained in a part of me, I remember feeling so helpless, the ambulance took over an hour to get to us. My mom, dad and me (I was 7) went straight over, what I remember most specifically is that I was in the living room, on the phone to the operator relaying instructions to my mom, who was in another room with my Granddad, who I think was unconscious at the time. I blamed myself for a long time, thinking that he might have lived if I had given the instructions more clearly. This experience has made me want to be involved in a caring profession. I see it as an opportunity to help prevent families going through a similar situation.

There are many other reasons that interest me, lifelong learning, the opportunity to teach and pass my skills onto others, but mostly, more than any other profession a true sense of being able to make a difference to the community.

Sacrificing the most Important Things in your Life - An ICT Activity

Last day, we had an activity about sacrificing six things that are important to your life. The six things I wrote are privacy, love, God, family, friends and home.

In the first round, I sacrificed privacy. I sacrificed privacy, does not mean that I can sacrifice myself. It's the secrets that only myself knows. Because even if they know all my secrets, it's still me, I'm still the real me.

In the second round, I sacrificed home, while other sacrificed food, water, gadgets, etc. Unlike them, I am ready to sacrifice my home as long as I have my family to protect me from any harm and troubles that may come along the way. If I'll sacrifice food and water I'll die, and it's okay to sacrifice gadgets, I can live with no gadgets, for what is important is we our own family.

In the third round, I sacrificed two important things, friends and love.I sacrificed friend because family is more important in our lives. They are the ones that you can count and hold onto when you encounter troubles and failures. I also sacrificed love, because sometime love might hurt you badly by loving the wrong person. True love is in our own family and no one can replace that kind of love.

Lastly, is the most difficult round. It's really difficult to sacrifice the two most important things in your life, which is family and God. I really think hard of what to sacrifice, but in the end I sacrificed family, because God can return all you have sacrificed and He can never leave you alone. He can guide you and protect you from all the trials and dangers. God is just like a mirror, He is happy when you are happy. He is sad when you are sad. But there is one thing He can't do, to turn His back to you by the time you turned your back to Him. God has the greatest love above all, He loves you for who you are and He'll never leave by your side.

In the end, our teacher told us that there is no need to sacrifice, he just challenged is. Now, I learned that you don't need to sacrifice anything, because they are the most important thing you can't live without.

(Sorry for the wrong grammar *^__^*)

Required Reading: Discontinued by Julian F. Thompson

This book is not about basketball. It is, for example, a great deal less about basketball than Moby Dick is about fishing.

As a matter of fact, this book is quite a bit less about a lot of things than Moby Dick is/ It's about some other stuff.

This is a book about love, and looking for answers, and fishing a new pet. It's about a wild chase and an illegal scam, and some very weird people who live in Vermont.

It all happens to Duncan Banigan. And it all goes to show that you may know the people who want to kill you, but you never really know the people who love you.

"In DISCONTINUED, Julian Thompson once again thumbs his nose at the few remaining taboos of YA literature and gets away with it. The novel -- irreverent and erotic and just plain fun -- is his fourth and possibly his best." ---- THE ALAN REVIEW

Required Reading: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain

Hilariously picturesque, epic in scope, alive with the poetry and vigor of the American people, Mark Twain's story about a young boy and his journey down the Mississippi was the first great novel to speak in a truly American voice. Influencing subsequent generations of writers -- from Sherwood Anderson to Twain's fellow Missourian T.S. Eliot, from Ernest Hemingway and William Faulkner to J.D. Salinger -- HUCKLEBERRY FINN, like the river which flows through its pages, is one of the great sources which nourished and still nourishes the literature of America.

About Me :)

Hi! My name is Kate Vertudazo, 13 years old, and although I'm 100% Filipino, I was born and raised in Tandag City.

As a youth I was heavily into reading books and music. These days I enjoy reading , and also writing short stories. I enjoy reading and I probably couldn't live without it. My favorite genres of books are Romance, Comedy, and Horror/Thriller. When I'm bored, I'll search some books in my house and when I found one, I really enjoyed it and can't stop reading.

I like working with my hands and hate being pinned down to a desk.

The latest lesson in life I've learned in that no matter what you do and how hard you try, you will never be able to please everyone and have to accept the fact that others will try to bring you down no matter how good your intentions are.

Reading is my Passion and I can't leave without it :)
